Art Specifications and Design Services

Artwork Format:
First the short version; Adobe Illustrator, Freehand or Corel Draw (not Photoshop unless 4-color process) files with all type/fonts converted to outlines, curves or paths or a EPS file with all type/fonts converted to outlines, curves or paths. Now, if you want more information; Adobe Illustrator and Macromedia Freehand Workable EPS (Encapsulated Postscript) files with text/fonts converted to outlines, curves or paths are preferred. A laser print of the art and PMS or Pantone color numbers should be included and sent via fax if necessary. Preferably, you can e-mail us with a PDF (Portable Document Format) file of your art and color numbers. If possible also include the original Vector art file from Illustrator, Freehand or Corel Draw. You can attach all three files (EPS, Vector, PDF) individually to your e-mail or if you are using Winzip on a PC you may compress them into one .zip file before attaching and sending.

Photo Imaging/Illustration: Photoshop (only 4 color process images accepted)
Please call before sending the file if your ad is created in another application.

Acceptable File Formats:
Submit files in
• Native formats with all type/fonts converted to outlines, curves or paths
• EPS file with all type/fonts converted to outlines, curves or paths.
• PDF’s
Drawing Illustrating/Photo Imaging: Save as EPS or TIFF.
Note: JPEG format may be acceptable for single images, if saved at
high resolution.

Resolution of Scanned Images:
• 266-300 dpi minimum resolution for continuous tone grayscale or color images.
• 600 dpi minimum resolution for line art.
• Save files without LZW compression checked.
• Save file to size required. Enlarging or reducing image more than 20% in page layout can cause problems.

Color:
• CMYK (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black) is the accepted mode for 4 color process. Do not use RGB.
• Specify PMS (Pantone) colors for 1 color / 2 color/ 3 color projects
• Colors viewed on your monitor may not be representative of final output.
Always check artwork against CMYK or PMS color swatches.

Fonts:
• Use true font names. Do not use bold or italic, outline or shadow attributes in the application.
• If fonts are used in illustration program, convert them to outline before importing.

What to Send with Your Electronic Ad:
• Our order form. Please request one from our sales department.
• All EPS or TIFF files imported into a document.
• LoRes JPG or PDF proof at 100% emailed to us
